Oh, I love these kids. Fresh from the wonderful film, 500 Days of Summer, everyone’s two favorite indie film stars, Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have filmed a music video (see this NYT article for the background on why, apologies, you might need to be a NYT subscriber to read). Great showcase for Zooey’s musical alter ego, She & Him, and their newest song, “Why Do You Let Me Stay Here”.

But what’s even better is the chemistry-laden, charming partnership between the two actors, who aren’t a couple in real life, but you kinda wish they were. Honestly, the hipster cuteness just oozes doesn’t it? Makes me want to cut some bangs and wear a flowered skirt every day!

I read a great article the other day that posited these two as a Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy for the new age of movie goers, and while they might not have the real-life couple chemistry, they can fake it pretty well! I’d love to see the two of them do more together.

Enjoy the video! It’s right here: http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b137994_zooey_deschanel_adorable_times_500.html

Just a quick post to shout out two awesome trailers for the new film, (500) Days of Summer, the best movie i’ve seen for ages. It’s a classic hipster love story, except it’s not really a love story… The clothes, the soundtrack, the irresistible and irrepressible acting from Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel – i loved it all. It even made me see LA in a new light (i.e. a positive one). And gosh, the plot? Well, for anyone that’s ever been in a slightly or not so slightly one-sided relationship (hmm, that will be all of us), it’s gonna hurt to watch this, ’cause you’ll be nodding your head mournfully all the way through. When you’re not laughing at the outrageous cuteness of it all of course.

And to top it all off? A musical dance extravaganza halfway through! For the lover of kitsch in anyone, this 3 minutes alone is worth the price of admission. I won’t spoil it by revealing why the male lead suddenly decides to burst into dance, but it’s pretty obvious!

And here’s the dance sequence itself, from one of two trailers. Check them both out below from geektyrant.com, then go see. You won’t be disappointed. And will be humming Hall and Oates for days, but hey, that’s a side-effect that’s worth dealing with…
